VTU student gets Gold Medal after four years.![]()
The High Court has dropped the contempt petition against the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) following an undertaking given by Special officer to give gold medal to a student, who was deprived of it due to the delay in evaluation.

The petitioner S Harsha, a resident of Hiriyur and a student of Nitte Institute of Technology, had secured 82 percent of marks in the examination between 2003-05. He also completed his project work as it was mandatory for his course. But the three evaluators appointed by the varsity delayed their work, and as a result his viva was delayed and the results were announced. The petitioner, after he lost his gold medal due to negligence of the University, moved the High Court in 2006, which in July 2008 directed the University to give him the medal and certificate during the 2009 January convocation. When the varsity failed to do so, the petitioner filed a contempt petition. During the hearing K S Nagendra, Special Officer VTU filed an undertaking to adhere to the High Court order. The division bench headed by Justice N Kumar has dropped the contempt charges against the varsity. |
